Where our flowers come from
Ronald van den Burg (left) and his team buy Arena’s flowers off the largest flower auction in the world, the Westland auction in Holland. Ronald is in charge not only of looking out for great deals on flowers and plants for our customers, but also in charge of ensuring that the flowers we sell meet our ethical standards.
A significant benefit of sending Arena Flowers flowers is that you will know exactly where your flowers came from; they came from us. Strange as it may sound, that is not the case with a relay organisation such as Interflora or FlowersDirect, as all that such relay organisations do is take your orders and pass them on to a local florist (taking a nice cut on the way, of course). It is therefore very hard to guarantee the value for money, quality, freshness or provenance of flowers bought through a relay organisation. At Arena Flowers we will only ever relay an order on the rare occasions that we are not able to fulfill the order ourselves with our own flowers and distribution (usually when customers have an urgent need).
Whats it like to be an Arena Flower?
It’s good. An Arena Flowers bouquet could be being handed to you by our driver less than 40 hours after the flowers in it were still in the ground growing. Most flowers in a typical retail or online flower shop’s bouquet will be many days older than that before they are delivered and so won’t look as beautiful or last nearly as long in the vase as ours. How do we do things so quickly?
Our flowers are purchased, conditioned and brought to the UK within 18 hours of being cut. When they arrive at Arena Flowers HQ they are conditioned again, our florists then work their magic and the flowers are sent to our customers as soon as they’re ready. Because Ronald buys off the auctions every day and because we don’t go through any middle men, we can keep the time span as short as possible so our customers get the best flowers.
Special offers and newsletter
Quite often we get a really great deal on flowers (basically, when Ronald spots them). At such times, we pass on these savings to our customers in the form of special offers, via email or SMS (to your mobile). In our email newsletter we also tell our customers about cool features we’re about to launch, and provide fun or interesting information about the world of flowers. What we don’t do is spam our customers.
Delivery Polices
If the flower delivery is for within the M25 / Greater London, one of our drivers will hand-deliver your order.
For orders for the rest of mainland UK (bar excluded areas) the flowers are carefully packaged in our sturdy flower boxes, complete with their own water bubble and food, and then delivered by our delivery partner, Parcelforce. Click for more information about our flower delivery policies.
